The city of Detroit made national headlines for all the wrongs reasons over the past year. The nation watched as a mayoral sex scandal, 22 percent unemployment rate, and auto industry bailouts painted the city in a light as dark as Detroit has ever seen. Even the so-called day of rest has been dominated by the city’s shortcomings, as the 0-16 Lions reminded America every Sunday this fall that Detroit, once again, was worst at something.
